Make Your Own Halloween Version!

Halloween is coming up and with it comes the costumes or at least some kind of makeup and outfit, probably a little different to celebrate and have fun on the occasion. You don't know what to do or how to create an outfit or makeup for Halloween? Of course, you can buy a Halloween costume or search the internet for makeup options and examples. However, you don't have to look exactly like the internet example, and it's also possible to make a costume without buying it. Here I will show you some ideas of different makeup and costumes that you can use from simple to a little more complex but all fun and according to the celebration. But more than anything, I will show you how to adapt what you want to do on Halloween to what you have at home or can be easily obtain.

Rather than dressing exactly like a character and object, you can adapt the special characteristics of that person or object to whatever you have in your wardrobe and create your own version of it. You can wear an outfit with the clothes you already have at home without having to buy a costume that you fear you will not wear again. You can combine things that you have not combined, no matter how weird it looks, it is Halloween! And of course makeup is an essential part especially if you want a darker or crazy touch for this day and although the makeup can be somewhat detailed you can do a simple version.

Of course, it is easier to guide yourself with the help of a character in mind. Dressing up as Frankenstein's monster, Alice's Mad Hatter or a butler from a haunted house can be options that you can adapt to the clothes you have in your wardrobe or maybe you can borrow from a family member. Adding a little colored shadows to your eyes and lots of blush can give you a makeup similar to Alice's Mad Hatter or give the feeling of madness that it presents. Uneven colorful clothing will make the right outfit. In the case of doing something like Frankenstein's monster, you can put together an outfit that looks a bit vintage, such as brown, gray, among other tones, and the makeup will of course be green, although there are also excellent examples on the internet that use white or skin tone makeup if your thing is not to paint your entire face. A few marks with eyeliner as if they were seams will be enough, although if you want to add a little more horror you can add with a white pencil a little light to some part of the seam and with red pencil paint on the ends of it to make it look more bloody and use red shadows to give a swollen effect.

You can also do a simpler makeup such as putting a foundation tone lighter than the skin tone and dark or red shadows around the eyes. Also adding some dark shadows or contouring in some points of the face such as the sides of the nose or under the cheekbones will give a darker and more sombre look. A good idea is also to use a contact lens of some color like red, white or some terrifying aspect like all black eye. This when combined with a simple costume, vintage style or a black or white outfit can be a simple but perfect outfit for the occasion with a touch of horror but easy to walk and is applicable whether you just want an exotic and terrifying air on Halloween or a character like the butler of haunted house or just some character that looks gloomy.

Moving on to a little more complex outfits, it may be that with a little crafts you can modify and level up the costume you have prepared. You can make a hat or an accessory that can give a more special touch to your outfit. A small hat taped to a headband can be made from cardboard or foam, paint, and a ribbon. For a cotton stuffed doll or teddy outfit you can use tights or other clothes and tear them a little to make it look torn and sew on some cotton balls and of course add a little red paint to give it a bloody effect.

For more complex makeup with face painting, shadows and pencils of course there are different designs of the famous skulls or Death, mainly black and white but there are also other options, if you prefer something more artistic, beautiful or complex you can add flowers or other decorations. Or you can just add shadows of other colors around the eyes and jaw of the skull like purples or blues. The suit can be anything from dresses to just a white shirt but also black fabric is more than enough to make the Death suit. You can also make a makeup like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland and add stripes to the suit with some paint. You can find countless examples of different makeup and outfits for Halloween of dolls, skulls, monsters, Aliens, vampires, zombies and more !!! And adapt them to your style since Halloween is the best opportunity to use your creativity in a costume.

And speaking of a little more detailed makeup, finally I share a tutorial on this year's Halloween makeup, my version of a voodoo doll.

I hope this blog has given you ideas for Halloween and to feel that you can take any reference and not pressure yourself to be the same or not disappoint you by not being able to make a costume, but rather to adapt it to your style, your wardrobe and your cosmetics.

Thank you for reading :)
